Orbem secures €55.5 million to expand AI-powered MRI technology for poultry hatcheries

Orbem has raised €55.5 million in Series B funding to accelerate the development and global expansion of its AI-driven magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology applied to the poultry sector.

The funding round was led by Innovation Industries, with support from Supernova Invest, and participation from existing investors including General Catalyst, 83North, The Venture Collective, and Possible Ventures.

Orbem is already active in five European countries with Genus Focus, its non-invasive in-ovo sexing solution, which has scanned over 170 million eggs to date. The company has also recently launched Genus Scale, a system designed to detect egg fertilisation before incubation, helping hatcheries reduce waste and optimise incubator use.

According to the company, the new investment will be used to develop deeper data insights from each egg, enhance hardware and software performance, transform scan data into operational intelligence, and support international expansion, including in the United States, where Orbem has opened an office in Houston, Texas.

Orbem applies artificial intelligence to industrialise MRI technology, enabling non-destructive analysis and data-driven decision-making across poultry production and other sectors.
