EU egg prices continue upward trend in week 8

The average EU price for Class A eggs reached €293.49 per 100 kg in week 8 of 2026, according to the latest weekly report from the European Commission (DG AGRI, Animal Products).

Compared to the previous week, the EU weighted average increased by 0.4%, while the month-on-month variation stands at +2.4%. On a yearly basis, prices are 16.4% higher than in the same week of 2025. When compared to the 2021–2025 average, the current level is 44.4% higher.

The report specifies that EU prices are calculated as weighted averages of national prices communicated by Member States. Since 1 July 2025, weighting coefficients have been adjusted to reflect each Member State’s share of total EU production over the last three years.

Weekly changes show mixed dynamics across Member States in week 8:

  • France: +3.0% (week-on-week)

  • Denmark: +1.9%

  • Hungary: +2.1%

  • Bulgaria: −1.0%

  • Spain: −0.7%

  • Netherlands: −1.1%

The EU weighted average remains at €293.49 per 100 kg, confirming continued firmness in the market.

Price Evolution

The evolution chart included in the report shows that the current price level for week 8 remains well above both the 2024 curve and the 2021–2025 average. The Commission indicates that the year-on-year comparison for week 8 confirms a +16.4% increase.

Monthly Context

For January 2026, the EU monthly average stood at €281.62 per 100 kg, representing an 18.9% increase compared to January 2025.

Annual data reported for 2025 show an EU average of €267.08 per 100 kg, up 22.9% compared to 2024.
