ARLINGTON, Va. – Oct. 21, 2025 – The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) has opened registration for the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) training and certification course, to be held Jan. 28 – 29, in conjunction with the 2026 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, Ga. This specialized training is designed to help animal food importers meet the requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and ensure the safety of imported ingredients used in feed production.

“Food safety begins long before products reach the shelf,” said Gary Huddleston, AFIA’s director of feed manufacturing and regulatory affairs. “This training empowers importers and supply chain professionals to confidently navigate FSMA’s FSVP requirements, helping them protect consumers, strengthen supplier relationships and demonstrate regulatory compliance.”

The course provides a deep dive into the essential elements of FSVP compliance, including hazard analysis, supplier evaluation, verification activities and documentation procedures. Participants will learn how to develop and maintain an effective FSVP, ensuring the safety and integrity of imported food products.

Led by qualified Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance-trained instructors, the course offers both practical guidance and hands-on tools for implementing a robust supplier verification program. Upon successful completion, attendees will receive an official FSVP Certificate of Training, recognized by the FDA as evidence of compliance readiness and a strong commitment to food safety.
