Marel is pleased to announce the appointment of Roger Claessens to the position of Executive Vice President of Marel Poultry, as of 1 September 2019. Roger will become a member of the Executive Team and report directly to CEO Árni Oddur Thórdarson. Until 1 September 2019, Anton de Weerd will continue in his role as Executive Vice President to facilitate the transition before taking on a new role within Marel.
Over his 18-year tenure with Marel, Roger Claessens has gained extensive management experience and demonstrated excellent leadership skills. In his management role as Director of Innovation Poultry over the past five years, Roger has successfully led Marel’s innovation efforts for the poultry industry and been instrumental in the launch of new advanced and high-tech equipment and solutions.
Claessens is 43 years old and holds a MSc degree in agricultural engineering from Wageningen University and Research. He is a Dutch national and lives with his wife and two children in Malden in the Netherlands.
