New building was settled in Boxmeer (NL), with the extensive two-floor office wing, the expanded production area and the renewed R&D facility. These new facilities bring Marel ready to tackle all future developments with great confidence.

The need for more office space and factory surface was clear: Marel, supplying equipment and solutions all over the world for the poultry, meat, and fish processing industry, continues to develop a steady growth curve in Boxmeer. This required more room for more production, more ideas, and more employees.

Work and research
“The investment in a renewed and extensive facility was necessary to provide all of our people with the best possible working environment,” says Anton de Weerd, Managing Director Marel Poultry. A total of 1700m² of office space is reserved for 150 work stations on two floors. The need for more meeting locations has also been fulfilled.
In the new R&D center, the research and development teams of Marel Poultry, Meat and Further Processing come together, stimulating cross-pollination and collaboration within their fields of expertise.

Inspiring atmosphere
Wood elements on the outside and the interior design give the new building a modern look and feel. The façade of the existing building complex also got a wood panel finish, creating a visual unity.

Anton de Weerd is extremely satisfied with the result: “We are pleased and proud to offer such a pleasant working atmosphere to our employees. I am convinced that this new, inspiring environment will stimulate our people to develop many pioneering ideas and successful business.
This investment confirms the strong position of Marel in Boxmeer now and in the future. The Boxmeer site is also the heart of the Marel Poultry division where many innovations have been developed and launched over the past 55 years; this underlines once again the importance of the agri-food sector in our Brabant region.”

The ceremony was performed on November 29th by the Noord-Brabant vice-governor Bert Pauli, Marel CEO Árni Oddur Thórdarson, and Anton de Weerd. They marked the official opening of the building with fireworks and champagne for all 120 eminent guests.v
